What’s more important than appreciating the beauty of and celebrating the people in your life? It’s not a trick question. The answer is nothing. At least according to Maurice Sendak. This writer of monster worlds and children’s dreams told NPR host Terry Gross that he would cry on the days that his friends left the world which, as you might have guessed, happened quite a lot during his final years. Sendak passed away this May after a debilitating stroke.
“Live your life. Live your life. Live your life.” —Maurice Sendak
This year for me—for us—is about living. No second thoughts, no regret, no guilt. Life is too short for these things. My energy will be put into creation. Because that is all I can do before I become dust myself.
I love simple choices.
