Seriously. We don’t need new phones every goddamn year.
I completely understand the appeal of having the latest version. New features, better performance, and ‘financial encouragement’ from mobile providers make it a tempting proposition. I’m a recovering upgrade addict myself.
I think this line of thinking is dumb and I’m calling for a paradigm shift.
Instead of being proud of purchasing the latest device, let’s be proud of something worthwhile: making our still-great devices last longer than anyone else’s. How many upgrade cycles can you skip? I’m aiming for at least two more on this iPhone4.
